What is the main function of the human
kidney?

Every human has billions of cells that work 24 hours per day and produce toxic waste. The toxins that are created every day and are transported in our blood stream and are filtered by the kidneys. If it were not for the natural filter that our kidneys supply, our blood would be contaminated with these toxins and death would be the result.

When our kidneys loose their ability to filter the toxins from our blood and the toxins levels become too high different symptoms occur : fatigue, loss of appetite and nausea. These symptoms usually occur when the kidneys are at 25% of their capabilities, (75% of the kidneys stop functioning).

Medical research has discovered techniques to help filter our blood when our kidneys have stopped working : this is called dialysis.
The most effective solution is still
a kidney transplant. Unfortunately, the number of doners is limited.
